Full job description:

A Different Kettle Art Director conceives and creates high impact creative work that surprises and delights our clients and gets results.

Your responsibilities include:

Conceptualising

  • Develop great creative solutions to our creative briefs
  • That includes supporting the account team in brief development by offering your strategic and creative insight to the development of the brief itself
  • Working in partnership with a copy writer to come up with the concepts that will best answer that brief
  • Liaising with the account team throughout to ensure you stay on brief and have all the supporting information you need
  • Sharing those conceptual ideas with the creative director and undertaking any agreed changes, refinements or re-workings
  • Sharing the conceptual ideas with the account team, refining them if and when appropriate in line with feedback from the account team
  • Developing presentation visuals to the appropriate and agreed finish and standard to convey your concepts
  • Present your fully visualised concepts to the creative director and account team for any final revisions
  • Presenting your visuals to client alongside the account team (as and when appropriate)

Creative Development

  • Receiving client feedback to your concept via the account team and agreeing best response (i.e how to make sure the feedback strengthens the work and does not weaken it)
  • Working with DK studio to develop the design of the work through from initial concept to final design and artwork, including responding to client feedback and making sure the work remains as strong as possible throughout the process
  • Receiving feedback on the final performance of the work and taking any appropriate learning into account in future creative development

General

  • You will think creatively across all and any media and/or design format – an insightful media idea or creative format may well be a key part of your creative solution
  • Understand and take a passionate interest in the third sector, keeping up to date with the innovation and best practice in this competitive landscape
  • Nourish your creativity by exposing yourself to strong creative influences within and without the media world
  • Make sure you are completely familiar with and confident of the brand guidelines of the clients you are working on
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work is essential

Technical

  • Proficient in using Adobe Creative Suite
  • An understanding of the basics of preparing print ready artwork
  • An understanding of how to design for digital channels
  • Drawing/illustrating is not part of the job remit but the ability to draw sufficiently well to convey an idea visually is an advantage

Team work

  • Work with traffic department to ensure you are up to date on all your work – and with that support, manage your own time effectively and take ownership of your responsibilities
  • Work closely with a copy writer on each creative project
  • Work closely with the broader DK team (account team, client strategy director and production team) – all pulling in the same direction with the shared goal of achieving the best results for our clients
  • A willingness to muck in and support other team members as and when needed

Living the DK values

  • Embody and promote our values:
  • Authentic – What you see is what you get. An honest, transparent team of highly skilled and passionately committed individuals.
  • Inquisitive – Innovation and creativity start with questions. Who? What? Why? How? We never stop seeking new answers.
  • Inventive – Creativity should never be confined to the ‘creative department’ or the ‘creative work’. Finding new answers to all those questions demands new thinking across every discipline and very aspect of a project.
  • Supportive – Of our clients and their goals. Of DK and its goals. Of each other and our goals.

Salary £40k-£50k depending on experience, Bristol based hybrid working.
